Cures For Insomnia

Ecclesiastes 5:12: The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.

TV prevents sleep in two ways. It keeps you awake as you watch and it doesn*t give your body the satisfaction of working and accomplishing things. Wealth also causes insomnia. Sound wisdom and discretion, which we can only get from the Lord are good medicine for insomnia.

Proverbs 3:21: My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: 22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. 23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. 24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Most TV does not provide sound wisdom or discretion and prevents the blessings of life, grace, surefootedness, freedom from fear or sweet sleep.

James 1:5: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Isaiah 28:26: For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.

Jeremiah 31:25: For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul. 26 Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.

Loving others and meeting their needs rather than serving self is another cure for insomnia.

Psalms 127:2: It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Mark 6:31: And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

Matthew 11:28: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Psalms 116:7: Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

Isaiah 57:20: But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

Hebrews 4:9: There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
